Black River Painting LLC
Editorial residential + commercial painting practice on Freeman St, Orange NJ. Cinematic color-chip wall signature in the hero. Cormorant serif + considered palette doctrine.
Overview
Black River Painting is an editorial-grade painting practice. The site borrows its lineage from Farrow & Ball, Pantone chip walls, and interior design magazines — art-paper cream surfaces, warm graphite ink, and five named paint chips (Hempstead Forest, Berwyn Clay, Bone Linen, Midnight Ink, Dusty Rose) that drive every section's atmosphere. Signature moment is the hero color-chip wall: five vertical chips animate in like swatches pinned to a board, each tagged with name, hex, and the room of the house it lives in. The 'Work' grid puts each finished room into a colored card with no photography — the paint color IS the portfolio piece. Process section flips to graphite background with italic Roman numerals for the six steps from visit to clean.

Challenges & Solutions
Challenges
- Building a painter's portfolio without before/after photography
- Selling the editorial positioning without losing the working-tradesman honesty
Solutions
- The paint color itself is the portfolio piece — each card uses its featured color as the entire background
- Process copy keeps it plainspoken — 'prep is the work, the painting is what people see.'
